At Velam Tours, we are dedicated to managing our Tanzania safari and Mt. Kilimanjaro services with the utmost environmental and social responsibility. We acknowledge our obligation to protect Tanzania’s natural beauty, uplift local communities, and promote the region’s sustainable development.

Environmental Stewardship
- We strive to minimize our environmental footprint by adhering to Leave No Trace principles during safaris and treks.
- We actively reduce waste, promote recycling, and ensure responsible waste management.
- We are consistently working to decrease our carbon footprint through efficient vehicle management and sustainable office practices.
- We take a proactive approach to addressing the challenges faced by conservation efforts in Tanzania. As of September 2024, our conservation initiatives include supplying firefighting equipment to Kilimanjaro National Park, executing large-scale reforestation projects in the Rundugai region and around Kilimanjaro National Park, and playing a vital role in wildfire containment.

Wildlife Conservation
We encourage responsible wildlife viewing practices and strictly follow all wildlife protection regulations.
We take an active role in supporting Tanzania’s conservation efforts. As of September 2024, our initiatives have included providing firefighting equipment to Kilimanjaro National Park, carrying out extensive reforestation projects in the Rundugai area, restoring ecological balance near Kilimanjaro National Park, and contributing resources to wildfire suppression operations.
We are also deeply involved in wildlife protection efforts. Velam Tours regularly donates to the Serengeti De-snaring Project, a program led by the Frankfurt Zoological Society. In addition, we support the care of an orphaned baby rhino at the Mkomazi Rhino Sanctuary and engage in other impactful conservation projects.
We are committed to maintaining and expanding our active role in conservation, continually dedicating our resources and efforts to where they are most urgently needed.
Community Engagement
- At Velam Tours, we are committed to collaborating with local guides, porters, and suppliers, ensuring fair pay and ethical work practices through our partnership with the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project.
- We work closely with local communities to promote education, create job opportunities, and drive economic development, including supporting an education fund that benefits schools across the Kilimanjaro region.
- We contribute to community initiatives focused on improving healthcare, education, and infrastructure, offering financial aid, volunteers, and resources for reforestation, as well as wildfire prevention, mitigation, and management.
- Velam Tours is also proud to take part in international cooperation efforts through our membership in UN Tourism.
