Rongai Route 6 days

Description:

On the mountain’s northeastern side, only the Rongai Route is accessible. Because it is the second-easiest route after Marangu and has incredible wilderness conditions, this route is becoming more and more popular.

Climbers who want to avoid the massive crowds of climbers on other routes are advised to take the Rongai Route. This route can be completed in 6 days and can be started from either the Tanzanian or Kenyan side of the mountain.

Only used to ascend the mountain, the Rongai Route eventually connects with the Marangu Route, which also leads upward. There are many caves along this route, some of which are used as lodging.

The Rongai Route, the only Kilimanjaro route that begins from the mountain’s north, is one of the least-used ascent routes.

The Rongai Route, which is north-facing and less steep, less congested, and drier than other routes, is quickly gaining favour with climbers seeking a distinctive climbing experience.

Day 3 – Kikelewa Cave – Mawenzi Tarn Camp

On this day it is best to leave the hotel as early as possible so you can see the variety of animals that are only active during the morning hours; breakfast will be packed in lunchboxes specifically for this purpose. At 6:30 AM you will set off for Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and after about an hour you will already be inside the crater. Ngorongoro is one of the most famous and interesting of Tanzania's national parks because here you can find the greatest number of different animal species per square kilometer. You will have the chance to see buffalo, elephants, lions, wildebeests, zebras, hippopotamus and feline species such as caracals and servals. The luckiest travelers might even see a rhinoceros, an animal whose numbers are rapidly declining. By lunch time you will arrive at the lake side, where you will be offered lunchboxes, after which the safari will continue. In the evening you will be transferred back to the hotel in Arusha.
