It’s easy to plunge into the wild world of Africa on a walking safari in Arusha National Park. Imagine: you can walk past plump zebras, restless buffalos and long-necked giraffes grazing just 100 meters from you. And this is just the first day provided by this wildlife safari in Africa! The next two days are equally interesting: Tarangire is well-known for elephants and baobabs, and ancient Ngorongoro Crater offers the maximum density of animals per square kilometer than anywhere else on earth.

Safari Itinerary
DAY 1
ARRIVAL
Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be warmly greeted by a representative from Velam Tours & Safaris. After a brief introduction and welcome, you’ll be transferred to your accommodation in Arusha.

Olerai Lodge – Arusha Located just a short drive from the airport, Olerai Lodge offers a peaceful start to your adventure. Set amidst lush gardens with views of Mount Meru, the lodge provides a relaxing environment to recover from your journey.

DAY 2
TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, your safari driver-guide will meet you and begin the journey to Tarangire National Park—approximately 2.5 hours from Arusha. Known for its majestic baobab trees and large herds of elephants, Tarangire is one of Tanzania’s hidden gems. The Tarangire River runs through the park and attracts a wide variety of wildlife including lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and countless bird species. Enjoy a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch inside the park. In the late afternoon, you'll head to your tented camp for overnight.

DAY 3
LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, you'll drive to Lake Manyara National Park—a lush, green park famous for its tree-climbing lions, flocks of pink flamingos, and dramatic escarpment views. The park is also home to elephants, hippos, baboons, and a wide variety of birdlife. You’ll enjoy a game drive through the park followed by a picnic lunch in a scenic spot. Later in the afternoon, transfer to your lodge in the nearby town of Karatu.

DAY 4
NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA
Early in the morning (around 6:30 AM), set off for a full-day safari inside the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Often referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” the crater is home to an incredible diversity of wildlife including elephants, lions, hyenas, buffaloes, hippos, flamingos, and—if you're lucky—the rare black rhino. Enjoy breakfast and lunch in picnic style near a lake within the crater. In the late afternoon, you’ll return to Arusha for your overnight stay.

DAY 5
DEPARTURE
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the lodge. Depending on your flight time, you may relax at the property or take a short city tour (optional). Your driver will transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight. Note: Hotel check-out is at 11:00 AM. Late check-out can be arranged for an extra fee.

- Most safari lodges usually do not include tea, coffee, soft and alcoholic drinks not to have you overpay for beverages you don’t need. You will be able to order and pay for drinks at the hotels’ restaurants
- Tented lodges are the most common type of accommodation in savannah. Many of them work on solar energy. This sometimes means bucket showers, limited wi-fi and no hair dryers, all in an effort to reduce environmental impact. We encourage you to do some basic research on the accommodations in your program to ensure the safari matches your travel style
