Safari in National Parks: Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti
This program offers a full 5-day game drive, with one day spent in Tarangire, another day in Ngorongoro, and three days in the Serengeti. Serengeti National Park is considered a treasure trove of the world’s wildlife. The unique climatic conditions allow you to enjoy stunning landscapes and observe resting lions, elusive leopards, and graceful antelopes. The advantage of this itinerary is that it increases your chances of encountering rare species of African fauna, including pythons, oryx antelopes, elands, servals, caracals, secretary birds, crocodiles, rhinos, and many others.

Safari Itinerary
DAY 1
ARRIVAL
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be warmly welcomed by a representative from Velam Tours. After meet and greet, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in Arusha for check-in.

DAY 2
TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast at around 6:30 AM, your safari guide will arrive to pick you up. By 10:00 AM, you’ll begin your first game drive in Tarangire National Park—famous for its large elephant population and the picturesque Tarangire River. You’ll also encounter lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and many other species. Your guide will do their best to track and show you as many animals as possible, staying in radio contact with other guides for updates on rare sightings. A picnic lunch will be provided during your game drive. Later in the evening, you’ll be transferred to your accommodation near Lake Manyara, on the way to the Ngorongoro region.

DAY 3
NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA
Today is an early start—leaving your lodge at around 6:30 AM—to enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This UNESCO World Heritage Site features the world's largest unbroken volcanic caldera and is rich in biodiversity. You'll likely see buffaloes, elephants, lions, wildebeests, zebras, and possibly elusive species like rhinos, servals, and caracals. Lunch will be served by the lake inside the crater. After your game drive, you’ll begin the journey to Serengeti National Park, passing by a memorial for researchers Bernhard and Michael Grzimek, who helped preserve Tanzania's wildlife heritage.

DAY 4
SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
You will spend the entire day exploring the Serengeti National Park, one of the most iconic safari destinations in the world. In the vast plains of Seronera, you’ll have the chance to see lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, cheetahs, antelopes, and much more. The Serengeti is also home to the Great Migration—one of nature’s most dramatic spectacles—as well as a rich predator population. This region inspired Disney’s The Lion King, and you’ll see why as you drive through its breathtaking landscapes.

DAY 5
SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
Continue your adventure through Seronera. This second day increases your chances of seeing rare animals such as leopards, rhinos, serval cats, and caracals. Your guide will explore new routes to offer a fresh experience and increase wildlife encounters.

DAY 6
SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
On your final day in Serengeti, you'll venture deeper into the park to discover even more wildlife and dramatic landscapes. Don't miss the Kopjes—ancient rock formations that are a favorite resting spot for big cats. You’ll also visit the iconic “Simba Rock”, the real-life inspiration for the Pride Rock from The Lion King. Later in the day, you’ll fly or drive back to Arusha for your final overnight stay.

DAY 7
DEPARTURE
After breakfast, enjoy some rest and relaxation before your transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for your departure flight. Note: Hotel check-out is at 11:00 AM. Late check-out (up to 6:00 PM) is available at an additional fee if your flight is later in the evening.

- Most safari lodges usually do not include tea, coffee, soft and alcoholic drinks not to have you overpay for beverages you don’t need. You will be able to order and pay for drinks at the hotels’ restaurants
- Tented lodges are the most common type of accommodation in savannah. Many of them work on solar energy. This sometimes means bucket showers, limited wi-fi and no hair dryers, all in an effort to reduce environmental impact. We encourage you to do some basic research on the accommodations in your program to ensure the safari matches your travel style
